Bangkok, Thailand– Best wishes to all in the Southern Hemisphere. May is officially “Earth Hour” time to make the planet a little cooler.

Usually celebrated at 8:30 p.m. local time, with skyscrapers lit up blue and gold, the annual environmental gesture brings the topic of climate change into the spotlight.

“We don’t get this intense climactic activity during winter. So why not celebrate Earth Hour during summer?” said Leo Mondale, executive director of Earth Hour.

This year’s event comes hot on the heels of a major report on global warming produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) last month.

More alarming findings were also published in the journal Science , as part of the series on observed changes in the earth’s climate. The magazine’s April 22 issue featured a review of the IPCC report , which stated that “the most serious risks are locked into the future.”

Here at CNN, we take the time each month to highlight 10 of the world’s largest superyachts. They each count at least 60 of a possible 65 luxury superyacht maximum.

Happy Earth Hour, friends.
