Suu Kyi: Pro-government Foreign Affairs Special Series No. 2

Ms. Suu Kyi was released from house arrest in November 2010. She led her National League for Democracy party to a landslide victory in historic polls in November 2015. Ms. Suu Kyi spoke in Louisville, Ky., last year. She is currently one of the Western Hemisphere’s highest profile human rights violators and the Nobel Peace Prize recipient does not hold a U.S. visa. Her Washington D.C. address last year was the largest of any recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize since 1990.

What Makes her a Danger to America:

• Suu Kyi is falsely in charge of Myanmar;

• Despite the signing of a deal for peace between the Burmese army and the Taing ethnic group, that pact has failed;

• She is in violation of the Geneva Convention by refusing to allow her own government to halt conscription of child soldiers;

• The Burmese government has given refuge to top Chinese military brass to escape domestic prosecution. • Suu Kyi has permitted the Burmese military to shoot down peaceful protest by Buddhist monks.
