A pregnant Yemeni journalist who was on her way to a TV studio to shoot a story about the effects of the ongoing violence has been killed in a bomb blast, according to local media.

Esmaa Fadl Ammar, a cameraman for Yemen TV, was in her car along with a colleague when a bomb exploded in the area of the Mohalla district in Sanaa. She was six months pregnant.

Local news website Saba News reported that she died instantly from her injuries. Her colleague, who had minor wounds, was in a stable condition.

The report said Ammar was buried in Sanaa on Sunday and that her colleagues had visited her body.

“Yesterday, in the company of our colleagues, we are told that an explosion had occurred near our car which has caught fire,” read a statement on the Yemen TV website.

It added that the building of the channel was also damaged.

Aqar has been working for the channel since 2007.
